Large grocery chains have a lot of pricing power since they are basically monopolies and control the market, they can charge a brand for 'shelf space'. So let's say you are trying to sell your 2 lbs. bag at 15 different stores in a certain market and you want your bag to be in the same location at every store. Not only will it be in the same location, but you probably not be competing against very many others if you buy out the entire shelf where chick peas go in the isle. This leads to a pseudo monopoly being the only available chick pea product in the entire store/market.
